This brief was focus on the positive social and cultural impacts of Graphic Design practice. We were asked to communicate clearly, through our design skills, how you propose to positively impact on other people’s lives, changing behaviour in some way, however small, through an appropriate, creative and meaningful solution.
I came up with the analogy that anxiety is like a parasite.
I have created an app for teenagers aged 13- 18, where they can create their own parasite to represent their anxiety. This app would be personalised to your specific anxiety issues and help you learn how to cope and handle anxiety on your own.
Overall, this app amies to help an individual understand themselves and have the knowledge to help them overcome their day-to-day anxiety. The concept of “owning your anxiety” is to help the stigma around speaking out for help. Teenagers have a pressing desire to be ‘cool’ and ‘normal’, so creating an app where people could anonymously share, play and fight with others with their anxiety will help teenagers feel more accepted to speak out.
